Indiana Distributed Energy Alliance
Indiana Distributed Energy Alliance (IDEA) is a new organization formed to lobby for federal, state and local policies that promote renewable energy and distributed generation technologies in the State of Indiana. On March 15, 2012, IDEA filed to incorporate as a non-profit in the State of Indiana. Current plans are to file as a 501(c)(3) with the IRS. IDEA plans to elect to spend 20% on lobbying activities at the Indiana General Assembly as well as to participate as an intervenor in proceedings before the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC).
IDEA is registered with the Indiana Lobby Registration Commission (ILRC) as an Employer Lobbyist. Laura Ann Arnold with The Arnold Group is registered as the Compensated Lobbyist with the ILRC. Ms. Arnold is the Founder of IDEA.
Many or most of the members and supporters of IDEA are also members of the Indiana Renewable Energy Association (www.indianarenew.org) which is a state chapter of the American Solar Energy Association (www.ases.org). IDEA and InREA are totally separate and independent organizations. The blog posts from http://blog.indianarenew.org have been imported into this blog.
There are two classes of emembership, voting and non-member. In addition, membership assessments are levied to support specific activities such as intervention in proceedings before the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) including net metering regulations and feed-in tariffs such IPL’s Rate REP and NIPSCO’s feed-in tariff. Currently, IDEA is participating in rulemaking activities to implement Indiana’s Voluntary Clean Energy Portfolio Standard (InVCEPS).
